Mission Statement:

The Community Foundation for Brevard serves as a trusted resource and leader for philanthropic individuals and organizations to expand, enhance, and sustain Brevard County’s quality of life.

Fulfill our mission as a community foundation.

We exist to serve our community, especially in times of critical need. Our hearts go out to the individuals and organizations most impacted by COVID-19, and we are activating our Brevard Relief Fund because local nonprofits can make meaningful differences with the right resources.

We will be working with our partners to assess impact and need and take action.

The Community Foundation for Brevard has a long history of working efficiently and effectively to direct the philanthropy of our donors to impactful community-based organizations working to strengthen our region.  A public health emergency such as this global pandemic illustrates how our fortunes are directly tied to one another, and we are committed to ensuring that our donors, grantees, and partners can work together to care for our most vulnerable neighbors.

Now, more than ever, we are driven to create a healthier, stronger community for all. We remain deeply grateful for your partnership in this work.

Mission Statement:

The CDC Foundation helps CDC do more, faster by forging effective partnerships between CDC and others to fight threats to health and safety.

  • The CDC Foundation is an independent nonprofit and the sole entity created by Congress to mobilize philanthropic and private-sector resources to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s critical health protection work.

  • We are a catalyst for unleashing the power of collaboration between CDC and philanthropies, private entities and individuals to protect the health, safety and security of America and the world.

  • The government has unique capacities as well as limitations. The same is true for the private and philanthropic sectors. We believe that people, groups and organizations have greater positive impact and can accomplish more collectively than individually. By aligning diverse interests and resources and leveraging all parties’ strengths, our focused collaborations with private and philanthropic partners help create greater impact than any one entity can alone. Your support saves and improves lives—right now and in the future.

  • Thanks to our donors, we have launched approximately more than 1,000 health protection programs and raised nearly $900 million to support CDC's work over the past two decades. To keep people healthy, safe and secure, we managed hundreds of CDC-led programs in the United States and in more than 140 countries.

Mission Statement:

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Vision Statement

The American Red Cross, through its strong network of volunteers, donors and partners, is always there in times of need. We aspire to turn compassion into action so that...

...all people affected by disaster across the country and around the world receive care, shelter and hope;

...our communities are ready and prepared for disasters;

...everyone in our country has access to safe, lifesaving blood and blood products;

...all members of our armed services and their families find support and comfort whenever needed; and

...in an emergency, there are always trained individuals nearby, ready to use their Red Cross skills to save lives.

Fundamental Principles of the Global Red Cross Network

Humanity

The Red Cross, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavors—in its international and national capacity—to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples.

Impartiality

It makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. It endeavors to relieve the suffering of individuals, being guided solely by their needs, and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress.

Neutrality

In order to continue to enjoy the confidence of all, the Red Cross may not take sides in hostilities or engage at any time in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature.

Independence

The Red Cross is independent. The national societies, while auxiliaries in the humanitarian services of their governments and subject to the laws of their respective countries, must always maintain their autonomy so that they may be able at all times to act in accordance with Red Cross principles.

Voluntary Service

The Red Cross is a voluntary relief movement not prompted in any manner by desire for gain.

Where Your Money Goes

An average of 90 cents of every dollar the American Red Cross spends is invested in delivering care and comfort to those in need. Everything we do depends on the needs of the people that we serve.
